Probe nets charges against Baltimore cops for alleged tow scheme

Criminal charges can have a ripple effect on the lives of the accused. They can damage the accused person's reputation, strain relationships with family members and friends and cause problems at work. Too often, everything a Maryland resident has worked for can be compromised by a single criminal accusation. Even worse, charges that are not immediately addressed can have long-term negative consequences, including the prospect of prison. Two Baltimore police officers may be experiencing just this after finding themselves on the wrong side of the law.

We focus on building a solid criminal defense

In Silver Spring, Maryland, it is a common knowledge that a person accused of a criminal offenseis presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in court. A criminal conviction can bring lasting consequences to a person, such as a tarnished reputation, difficulty landing a job and a permanent criminal record. Those consequences can haunt a person forever. Fortunately, anyone who has been accused of a crime has the right to a criminal defense, which allows the accused person to stand up to the charges and challengethe evidence presented in court.

Criminal process has multiple stages; legal experience matters

In Maryland and elsewhere, many people who have never been involved with the criminal justice system likely underestimate how complex and exhaustive it can be. Common misconceptions regarding what occurs following an arrest are often starkly opposed to what constitutes reality in criminal law.

Suspect with criminal record charged with robbery

A 51-year-old suspect with a lengthy criminal history was taken into custody in Baltimore recently after he was accused of robbing victims of cash. He faces several charges, including assault and robbery of two workers at a local medical facility and other crimes. He was held with no bail. Law enforcement personnel are still looking over security camera footage as the crime may be connected to another robbery. The suspect's wife insisted he has been set up by law enforcement personnel as she claims that he was at a court-ordered substance abuse program when the crimes at the hospital occurred. She believes he is being accused for the crime because of his criminal background. Personnel at the drug treatment program were unavailable to confirm or deny his presence at the time of the crimes.

Perryville pair arrested after drugs found in vehicle

A routine traffic stop in Perryville on March 2 led to the arrest of a couple after police found them in possession of a variety of drugs in their vehicle. Law enforcement personnel took a 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman into custody. The pair face drug charges for possession of controlled dangerous drugs with the intent to distribute. After the officer allegedly established probable cause, his search yielded 80 baggies or almost 26 grams of a substance believed to be heroin, one bag of nearly 8 grams of cocaine and a baggie of marijuana that weighed about 5 grams. The man faces at least five criminal counts, including possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He is being held on $50,000 bail. The woman faces three counts including possession of a controlled dangerous substance for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held on $35,000 bail.

Maryland man arrested in other state after police photograph him

When police talk with a person, it is important that the person understands their rights. Sometimes police approach people that they think look suspicious, or who just might be in a place with a high crime rate. When a person is arrested they should understand their rights and might be wise to speak with an experienced attorney before speaking with police.
