A 30-year-old New York man was pulled over and subsequently charged with several drug crimes in Maryland. Police say that he was stopped because he did not change lanes upon seeing another police officer who was dealing with an unrelated traffic stop. The officer reported that he noted "several criminal indicators" during the traffic stop.
Three individuals are facing drug charges after police were called to a hotel on Oct. 30. When police arrived, they allegedly noticed the odor of marijuana in a hallway while standing directly outside one of the rooms. An officer placed himself next to the door when two people walked out of the room unexpectedly. Police say that a third individual in the room quickly went into the bathroom and allegedly began flushing evidence down the toilet.
A man from Baltimore received a 10-year sentence after accepting a plea deal on Oct. 23. He received the sentence for allegedly distributing heroin.
According to the Kent County Narcotics Task Force, two individuals from Chestertown, a 23-year old man and woman, were taken into custody after heroin was allegedly discovered on their property. A variety of law enforcement agencies were involved, including the Chestertown Police Department's Special Response Unit, the Kent County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police. Law enforcement executed a a knock and announce warrant on Georgetown Road at approximately 5 a.m. on Sept. 18.
A 47-year-old Baltimore man was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted on drug charges by a U.S. District court judge in Maryland. The judge used the three strikes sentencing guidelines to determine the severity of the sentence. The defendant had been convicted on similar drug charges two times in the past before the current drug charges were brought against him.
Six individuals have been charged with drug-related offenses in Maryland after police discovered drugs during a vehicle search. According to the report, the vehicle was stopped due to seat-belt violation. Police officers asked permission to conduct a search when they noticed that the passengers appeared nervous. The officers reportedly recovered a large amount of LSD, marijuana, a knife and more than $2,000. The police also seized the vehicle.
