Maryland man faces drug charges for alleged evidence room thefts

A 20-year-old man who was employed as a police cadet for Baltimore County has been charged with 10 counts of drug- and theft-related charges for allegedly stealing drugs from the evidence vault. That vault is located at the department's headquarters. According to court documents, the man was reportedly systematically taking the drugs from the evidence room to sell to his two cousins.

Christmas brings a spike in mail theft allegations

The holidays are stressful for many, which can lead to poor decisions for those who are strapped for cash. There are cases where individuals commit theft to cover the cost of family gifts or holiday celebrations. In other instances, individuals take advantage of convenient holiday situations to steal from others. In one Maryland county, the week before Christmas saw an increase in mail theft complaints.

Woman to spend 5 years in prison for attempted hair weave robbery

A 19-year-old Maryland woman was sentenced to five years in prison after becoming involved in an altercation after attempting to steal hair weaves. According to the report, the woman attempted to steal approximately $850 in hair weaves from Gaithersburg's Town Beauty Supply in September 2012.

Maryland man accused of stealing computer

Police took into custody a 59-year-old Belcamp man who is accused of stealing a computer from a Towson University student. The theft occurred at an Aberdeen library where police say that the man followed the student prior to luring him away from the computer. Police officials say that they retrieved video surveillance tapes from the library and were able to see what occurred. They then printed photos of the accused man for distribution.

Maryland woman accused of bank robbery

A woman in Maryland was identified as a bank robber in part because she has eczema on her hands, police say. Police allege that a 47-year-old Maryland woman committed a robbery at The Bank of Glen Burnie on Crain Highway South and returned to rob the same branch two weeks later.

Maryland man accused of stealing car, driving without license

A routine traffic stop resulted in a Maryland man being taken into police custody on Sept. 8 in the Pasadena area, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The man was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

Maryland man exchanges five-year sentence for Alford plea

A Maryland man was sentenced to five years in jail after entering an Alford plea to theft and obstruction of justice charges on Sept. 5. The man was charged with theft from a handicapped retired veteran after he was hired to do work around the veteran's house. Not only was the work not completed, but tools were also stolen from the veteran.

Salisbury reports increase in shoplifting

Salisbury, Maryland has reported an increase in shoplifting crimes. From 2012 to 2013, the city reported a 20 percent increase in store theft, and authorities have received more than one shoplifting report per day. Fines and jail time may vary among individuals depending upon the value of the goods stolen and the number of repeat offenses.

Man charged with Montgomery County burglary

A 26-year-old man accused of burglary was seen fleeing a Montgomery County veterinary hospital on foot and running into a wooded area behind a popular steakhouse chain restaurant. Police located the man in the wooded area and arrested him. The man was later charged with two counts of second degree burglary and theft less than $1,000. The charges stemmed from two separate burglary accounts at the same veterinary hospital.
