Maryland woman behind bars after allegedly shooting boyfriend

A 34-year-old Edgewood, Maryland, woman is facing multiple criminal charges in the alleged shooting death of her 37-year-old boyfriend. Charges against the woman include using a handgun while committing a felony, first-degree assault and first- and second-degree murder.

The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on June 2 sometime before 8 p.m. on Monday night when the woman called 911 to report that she had allegedly shot and killed her boyfriend after he attacked her. According to information released by the local sheriff's office, responding deputies arrived at the scene to discover the man's body located in a bedroom on the second floor of the Mahonia Way residence. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot to the upper body and gunshot wound to the head.

The woman was later transported to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air where she was treated for injuries before being released into police custody. Although the woman was initially denied bail, it was later reduced by a Harford County Court judge to a $250,000 bond. The woman currently remains behind bars at the Harford County Detention Center.

Defendants who are accused of violent crimes such as first- and second-degree murder may benefit from legal representation. An experienced Maryland criminal attorney may be able to assist a defendant who is facing these types of accusations and could possibly help to not only provide a strong criminal defense, but will also work to ensure that defendants are treated fairly during the legal process.
