Maryland men charged for alleged car dealership burglarly

A 22-year-old man and his 29-year-old accomplice are in custody and facing theft charges after a three-week investigation by the State Police Criminal Enforcement Division. The 22-year-old faces theft charges between $1,000 and under $10,000, along with fourth-degree burglary and second-degree burglary.

The man's 29-year-old accomplice faces a similar theft charge as well as other miscellaneous charges. Those charges include illegal possession of ammunition, distributing drugs with a firearm, resisting or interfering with an arrest, possession of marijuana, two counts of firearm and drug trafficking, unlawful transfer of a firearm, possession of firearms, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute and manufacturing drugs.

According to Maryland State Police, the charges stemmed from an incident in which the two men allegedly stole tires, automotive supplies, rims, a tool chest, tires and other assorted automotive supplies from a car dealership in Fallston. Police say the men were responsible for two alleged thefts at the dealership that occurred on April 29 and May 1.

The additional charge of resisting or interfering with an arrest filed against the 29-year-old man came from the result of the man reportedly closing the door on authorities and refusing to come out of the premises after they arrived at his residence to question him about the theft. A subsequent search of the man's residence allegedly revealed a .38 caliber firearm, a revolver, bulletproof vest and 178 grams of marijuana in addition to the supplies reportedly stolen from the car dealership. Other items from the theft were reportedly found at a residence associated with the 22-year-old.

Both men received a bail amount. The 22-year-old was being held at the Hartford County Detention Center on a $15,000 bail after the judge refused to allow the man to be released on his own recognizance. The 29-year-old man was initially given a $1 million bail, but this was reduced to $750,000 after a bail review hearing.

An experienced Maryland criminal attorney may be able to assist a defendant that is charged with theft and work to ensure they are treated fairly during the legal process.
