Three men sentenced in Baltimore shooting

Three Maryland men have been convicted in a shooting that took place in Baltimore. The Baltimore City Circuit Court handed all three men prison sentences of varied lengths for their alleged roles in the shooting. The longest prison sentence given to the three men was 50 years. Authorities say the violent crime left one man paralyzed from the waist down.

According to reports from the Baltimore City State's Attorney, the three men conspired to shoot the victim in the 5000 block of Palmer Avenue. After approaching him, witnesses say that one of the accused men handed the gun to another and instructed him to shoot. The 21-year-old man is accused of shooting the victim multiple times, resulting in his injury.

After pleading guilty to attempted murder, the 21-year-old received a sentence of 35 years in prison, with 17 years suspended. The 23-year-old man who allegedly ordered the man to shoot was given 50 years in prison, with 30 years suspended. A 19-year-old man at the scene was sentenced to 25 years in prison, 15 years of which was suspended. Following the end of their prison sentences, both the 19-year-old and the 21-year-old will have to submit to five years of supervised probation.

As you can see in this case, the man accused of instructing the other man to shoot received the longest sentence. When charges involve conspiracy to commit murder, the person who pulls the trigger is not the only defendant who could face harsh penalties. An experienced lawyer could be of help to those charged with murder conspiracy. By gathering witness testimony and other evidence, a lawyer may be able to help defendants have their charges dropped or reduced.
