Maryland brothers accused of burglary

Two brothers were accused of first degree burglary among other charges in Prince George's County. According to authorities in Prince George's County Sheriff's Office, the theft involved property that valued at least $1,000.

The two brothers allegedly removed copper piping from a home in Temple Hills. Police say that they saw one of the men leaving the property carrying the piping in a water cooler. Authorities also say that they found more piping pieces, which did not belong to the person who owns the house, inside of a black trash can in the backyard. Additionally, officials also found out that brother they saw on the property did not reside there.

Another burglary occurred in the same block later that week, according to police. The other brother allegedly broke into the house and removed copper piping, causing damage worth about $3,000. Authorities connected the copper pieces that they found in the cooler with the robbery at the second home.

Police located the men on the 5200 block of Edgemere Court. Both brothers were taken into custody and charged with first degree burglary, malicious destruction of property valued over $500, fourth degree burglary, and theft: $1,000 to under $10,000.

Allegations of theft and larceny charges can carry harsh consequences that can be detrimental to the accused's life, both professionally and personally. A criminal defense attorney may be able to help those who have been charged with theft to build the strongest possible defense in their case, and possibly get their sentence reduced or dismissed by challenging evidence.
