Two women were taken into custody after police received reports that they were breaking into a car in a mall parking lot and stealing items from the vehicle. The duo was charged with various theft crimes, and one of the women was also held on six outstanding warrants.

According to police, the owner of the car was inside a Gold’s Gym in the shopping center when another patron saw the two women breaking into his vehicle and alerted him. The witness was also able to give the man a description of the car that the twosome arrived in, a black Volkswagen. The man claimed that his wallet and credit cards were missing from his car.

When police arrived, the man noticed a black Volkswagen pass the officer’s car and pointed it out to the officer. The officer located a black Volkswagen parked in the parking lot of the mail with two women inside, a 23-year-old and a 34-year-old. Police say the driver sped off in the car but abandoned it and ran into the mall. The officer apprehended her after a foot chase. Police also took the other individual into their custody. Police found additional credit cards belonging to other people in the Volkswagen and were working to identify the owners.

Theft, larceny, robbery and burglary are all serious charges that can bring fines and prison time. For people accused of anything from minor theft to grand larceny, an attorney experienced in defending people accused of misdemeanor or felony theft may be able to help. Such a lawyer may be helpful in negotiating a plea bargain in exchange for lesser charges and penalties.
