The new trial for a 29-year-old man accused of allegedly killing a 16-year-old girl has been postponed until April. The postponement came after the man's defense attorneys asked for a continuation so that they would have a chance to prepare by going through the thousands of documents that are related to the case.
A 50-year-old Frederick, Maryland, man was expected back in court today after a series of weather delays and a federal holiday delayed his trial for almost a week. The man, who has been in jail since his arrest on Feb. 12, 2013, has been charged with first-degree murder, robbery, theft and gun crimes.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 18 for a Kentucky man accused of allegedly assaulting a woman at a rented apartment in Baltimore. The man, who is an athletic director for Whitley County High School in Kentucky, faces numerous charges, including first degree assault, second degree rape, second degree assault, and second, third, and fourth degree sexual offense.
A 35-year-old Rosedale man that was charged for his alleged involvement in the armed robbery of a Baltimore business has been sentenced to 27 years in prison. The man was the last of three men arrested and convicted for the crime that occurred back in July of 2009.
A 54-year-old father and his 30-year-old son, who were the alleged kingpins of a drug and burglary ring, have pleaded guilty to federal burglary and drug charges, including conspiring to distribute oxycodone and commit bank burglary. The U.S. Attorney's Office reports that the men are just two of 10 alleged conspirators who have reportedly pleaded guilty in the case and that there are another six individuals remaining in the case with charges pending.
A 31-year-old Federalsburg man faces 40 years in federal prison after being sentenced for allegedly producing child pornography. This sentence will be served concurrently with a 40 year state sentence that the man received back in October 2013 after pleading guilty to a second-degree rape and a second-degree sex offense that were part of the same case.
